I do too many things. I write. Not just one thing, but stories, poetry, criticism, essays. I compose music. Not just one kind, but rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, classical, blues, soul, country. I invent things. I draw, too.
“Stop it,” I am told. “Do one thing.”
But I can’t. I do what I do. Many things. Some people collect bottle caps. I do many things.
It’s not like I’m combining rocket science with brain surgery. Writer/musicians, I hear, are not entirely unheard-of. Guillaume de Machaut and Paul Bowles come to mind. Whoever they are. And Tony Bennett paints.
At any rate, the gentle reader will find herein a representative selection of my multifarious handiwork.
